A large congregation gathered on Sunday at St Thomas's Church, Michelago, to celebrate its 110th birthday.
Well over 100 people attended the service - many had to be seated outside under a marquee as the church can only seat half as many. Communion was held in the grounds. Afterwards, people gathered in the village hall for an amply provided morning tea.
Members of the Michelago congregation worked hard in the preceding weeks to renew the fence, paint the church inside and out and to beautify the garden. Funds are being raised by selling individual fence pickets for $25 each and tea-towels with illustrations of the four churches in the Queanbeyan diocese.
