The Cooma District Darts Association held the grand final of the winter competition last week at the Australian Hotel.
In the A Grade comp, the Aussie Jokers won their fourth straight grand final, defeating Cooma Hotel 6-1. Top scorers for the Jokers were Matt Hemphill with 140, 125 and 116, Matt Lennon with 140, 100 and a 96 peg-out, Quinton Stead with 120, 101 and 100 and Tyson Stead with 100. Basil Bodycott scored 100 for Cooma Hotel.
The B Grade competition was a true nail biter, all the way to the final dart. The Aussie Weirdos were pitted against Dubby's Mob in the closest grand final game for quite some time. With the win for either side only one game away, Kevin Rourke stepped up for the Weirdos and Mick Thomas for Dubby's Mob. Determined to give his team the win, both men won one leg of the game, putting the score 5-5, 1-1. The tension in the atmosphere was thick until Kevin Rourke let fly the winning dart, giving the Aussie Weirdos the victory.
Just a reminder that the Triples and Singles Championships are being held over the next two Wednesday nights at the Australian Hotel. Entry is open to anyone interested in having a fun night out. Entry is $5 per person for registered players and $10 for non-registered players.
